摘要: The process now known as the Ritter reaction was first described in detail two papers1,2 published 1948. Strongly acidic conditions were used to generate a carbenium ion which underwent nucleophilic attack by nitrile, and further events leading isolated product. In its original most familiar form, hydrolytic work-up produced an amide. However, later investigations showed that suitable cases intramolecular cyclization could occur, affording wide range of heterocyclic materials. Although this very general is justly named for Ritter, who recognized explored considerable potential, it not surprising few special Ritter-type processes are earlier independent reports.3–7 Early work on well served number review articles,8–14 Krimen Cota12 being especially valuable present context.
