摘要: This mini-review discusses the influence of external fields on phase behaviour lyotropic colloidal liquid crystals. The crystal phases reviewed, formed in suspensions highly anisotropic particles ranging from rod- to board- plate-like particles, include nematic, smectic and columnar phases. considered are earth gravitational field electric magnetic fields. For single particle alignment, collective reorientation ordered field-induced transitions discussed. Additionally, various confining geometries, e.g. slit-pore, circular spherical confinement will be reviewed.
