FDI Inflows to Sweden : Consequences for Innovation and Renewal

摘要: FDI inflows have expanded rapidly during the past decade. This paper analyses if such dointroduce new characteristics of innovation systems at national and regional levels. The paperstudies two phenomena. First, what novelties are brought into host region (country) when FDIinflows occur? Second, consequences for intensity, technology transferand economic performance firms in a (national) economy that experiences inflows?These issues assessed by examining foreign multinationals comparingthem with multinational, uninational non-affiliate firms, respectively. Theanalyses control location, examine impacts, based on CIS data (CommunityInnovation Survey III). contributes to earlier studies important ways. itcompares three other distinct types corporate structure. it combines resultsfrom both parametric non-parametric estimations. results indicate anunambiguous way renew local acquiring or replacing domestic multi-unit firms(uninationals). Compared structure, do not seem improveinnovation economy.
