摘要: Abstract In this paper, the technology of knowledge-based systems is first reviewed. The two key elements these systems, knowledge base and inference engine, are examined in detail. seen as being a collection facts rules expressing experiential about problem domain, hierarchy frames storing information on stereotyped objects or generic concepts specific instances these, set nodes representing linked into network by arcs symbolising relations between them. engine found to operate forward chaining from available data, backward towards goal, adopting mixture strategies. Following review, recent applications based engineering design manufacture described. These cover wide range activities including equipment process selection, planning, production modelling, machine fault diagnosis, real time monitoring control, components systems.
