Opportunities and challenges to telemedicine in rural America

摘要: Rural communities have chronically suffered from a lack of adequate health care resources. Too few primary practitioners and the need to travel long distances for specialty made it difficult many rural residents receive they when it. Telemedicine provides one tool improving this situation. As is often case, however, telemedicine's potential has not been realized in America. Significant technical, regulatory, organizational, financial barriers prevented benefiting technology. This paper discusses these issues suggests prescription establishing successful telemedicine programs.
