摘要: Dipole moment, enthalpy, and entropy changes were calculated for hypothetical structural units which control the opening closing of ionic channels in axon membranes. The these thermodynamic functions both activation (transition to intermediate complex) transformation as a whole. calculations are based on experimentally determined Q10 values empirical formulae rate constants (alpha's beta's) membrane potentials Hodgkin-Huxley type models. From we suggest that specific membranes probably macromolecular (possible protein-like) dimensions with large dipole moments (hundreds debyes). moment single unit indicate many cases saturate at strong depolarizations or hyperpolarizations. transitions show substantial enthalpies entropies but net enthalpy practically negligible transition whole, i.e. presumably undergo displacements. While associated transformations Loligo Myxicola similar potential dependencies, those Rana usually different behavior. relevance gating currents is discussed.
