摘要: Pore-forming toxins (PFTs) are key virulence determinants produced and secreted by a variety of human bacterial pathogens. They disrupt the plasma membrane (PM) generating stable protein pores, which allow uncontrolled exchanges between extracellular intracellular milieus, dramatically disturbing cellular homeostasis. In recent years, many advances were made regarding characterization conserved repair mechanisms that eukaryotic cells to recover from mechanical disruption PM membrane. However, specificities cell recovery pathways protect host against PFT-induced damage remain remarkably elusive. During infections, coordinated action such processes defines outcome infected is, thus, critical for our understanding pathogenesis. Here, we review reported be involved in response PFTs discuss their impact single-cell infection.
