摘要: Language in its highest complexity is a unique human faculty with simultaneous translation being among the most demanding language task involving both linguistic and executive functions. In this context, bilingually grown up individuals as well interpreters (SIs) represent appropriate groups for studying expertise-related neural adaptations brain. The present study was performed to examine if domain-specific network activation pattern, constituted by brain regions involved speech processing cognitive control mechanisms can be detected during task-free resting state condition. To investigate this, electroencephalographic (EEG) data were recorded from 16 SIs age gender-matched multilingual subjects. Graph-theoretical analyses revealed interhemispheric hyperconnectivity between ventral part of prefrontal cortex (pars opercularis pars triangularis) dorsolateral (DLPFC) experts compared controls alpha frequency range. This finding suggests that high demands placed on interpreting lead an increased communication essentially engaged supporting control-a fingerprint even detectable rest.
