摘要: A population balance equation was solved by combining the Lax-Wendroff and Crank-Nicholson methods. The used in simulation of an evaporative cooling crystallizer with fines dissolution. stability method, along that methods alone, compared under different operating initial conditions. When tested conditions uninterrupted growth to steady state, it found three produced virtually identical final crystal size distributions (CSDs), though showed some oscillatory behaviour early on. Under dissolution conditions, only combined Lax-Wendroff/Crank-Nicholson method proposed this paper a density steadily reduced zero. became unstable, while extremely oscillatory. dynamic both oscillations did not affect ultimate CSD. no any case, producing smooth state CSDs.
