摘要: The number of African Americans and Latino/as receiving undergraduate advanced degrees in computer science is disproportionately low, according to recent surveys. And relatively few American Latino/a high school students receive the kind institutional encouragement, educational opportunities, preparation needed for them choose as a field study profession. In Stuck Shallow End, Jane Margolis looks at daily experiences teachers three Los Angeles public schools: an overcrowded urban school, math magnet well-funded affluent neighborhood. She finds insidious "virtual segregation" that maintains inequality.
