摘要: We examine when and how police officers may avoid costly errors under stress by leveraging theoretical empirical work on the biopsychosocial (BPS) model of challenge threat. According to BPS model, in motivated performance contexts (e.g., test taking, athletics), evaluation situational task demands relation one's perceived resources available cope with those engenders distinct patterns peripheral physiological responding. Individuals experience more challenge-like states which blood circulates efficiently periphery they evaluate their coping as meeting or exceeding demands. Conversely, individuals threat-like less view situation resources. Patterns response consistent threat have been shown predict important decision-making outcomes stressful contexts, repeated experiences activity are thought detrimental effects long-term cardiovascular health. To date, however, research has not used understand stress. Here, we review relevant from perspective concerning minority status power can shape responding contribute then detail a agenda aimed at improving translational value being conducted within for understanding complex real world, including among law enforcement personnel.
