摘要: Many anticipate that expanding knowledge of genetic variations associated with disease risk and medication response will revolutionize clinical medicine, making possible genetically based Personalized Medicine where health care can be tailored to individuals, on their genome scans. Pharmacogenetics has received especially strong interest, many pharmaceutical developers avidly working identify individual differences in drug response. While applications emerging are becoming increasingly available, tests for selection not as yet widely accessible, primary clinicians unprepared interpret information. We conducted interviews 58 clinicians, exploring how they integrate pharmacogenetic concepts into practices. found current practices, innovations have led individually treatment, but instead encouraged use essentialized racial/ethnic identity a proxy heritage. Current manifestations appear reinforcing entrenched notions inherent biological between racial groups, promoting the belief profiling is supported by cutting-edge scientific authority. Our findings raise concern actually affect diverse populations, unbiased treatment assured.
