摘要: Cereal endosperm is a highly-differentiated tissue containing specialized organelles for the accumulation of storage proteins, which are ultimately deposited either within protein bodies derived from endoplasmic reticulum, or in vacuoles (PSVs). During seed maturation cells undergo rapid sequence developmental changes, including extensive reorganization and rearrangement endomembrane system transport via several developmentally-regulated trafficking routes. Storage have been characterized great detail by histochemical analysis fixed immature samples. More recently, vivo imaging use tonoplast markers fluorescent organelle tracers provided further insight into dynamic morphology PSVs different cell layers developing endosperm. This relevant biotechnological applications area molecular farming because cereal crops offer alternative subcellular destinations deposition recombinant proteins that can reduce proteolytic degradation, allow control over glycan structures increase efficacy oral delivery. We discuss how architecture changes may influence fate post-translational modification glycoproteins species.
