摘要: RATIONALE Many patients with adenocarcinoma of the prostate present advanced and metastatic cancer at time diagnosis. There is an urgent need to detect biomarkers that will improve diagnosis prognosis this disease. Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization imaging mass spectrometry (MALDI-IMS) playing a key role in research it can be useful unravel molecular profile biopsies. METHODS MALDI data sets are highly complex their interpretation requires use multivariate statistical methods. In study, MALDI-IMS technology, sequential principal component analysis (PCA) two-dimensional (2-D) peak distribution tests were employed investigate tumor heterogeneity formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) RESULTS Multivariate statistics revealed number ion peaks obtained from different regions distinguishable adjacent normal within given specimen. These have been used generate images visualize difference between regions. Mass m/z 3370, 3441, 3447 3707 exhibited stronger signals CONCLUSIONS This study reports statistically significant unique adds clinical utility for FFPE tissue level supersedes all other standard histopathologic techniques diagnostic purposes current practice.
