摘要: Insertional Achilles tendinopathy (IAT) is a painful and debilitating condition that responds poorly to non-surgical interventions. It thought this disease may originate from compression of the tendon due calcaneal impingement. Thus, compressive mechanical changes associated with IAT elucidate its etiology offer clues guide effective treatment. However, properties tissue have not been characterized. Therefore, objective study was measure excised compare healthy cadaveric control tissue. Tissue insertion acquired donors patients undergoing debridement surgery for IAT. Several specimens each donor were then mechanically tested under cyclic unconfined data analyzed determine distribution donor. While median tendons significantly different than tissue, within dramatically altered. In particular, contained more low modulus (compliant) high transition strain tendons, as evidenced by lower 25th percentile secant higher 75th strain. Furthermore, these parameters correlated symptom severity. Finally, it found preconditioning slow loading both reduced specimens, suggesting slow, controlled ankle dorsiflexion prior activity help manage disease-associated pain.
