摘要: Abstract The use of abundant carbohydrates as resources for the production electrical energy is an important area research and development. Until recently only limited success has been reported in developing efficient catalysts carbohydrate fuel cells. Viologens are active transferring abundant, low-potential (∼1.0 V) electrons stored (24 electrons/glucose) to O 2 or cell electrodes alkaline solution. To maximize from cell, it essential understand variables determining rate electron transfer viologen then current collecting electrodes. Electron viologens a rapid process, so here we report kinetic investigation evaluating kinetics oxidation various with under variety conditions, including type. At fixed temperature pH, first order reaction both was observed. In general, fewer than 5 carbon atoms react rapidly at room below but those carbons more slowly require temperatures 40–55 °C. results demonstrate that sufficiently viable power can be derived
