摘要: Abstract The effects of seasonality on the dynamics a bivoltine population with discrete, nonoverlapping generations are examined. It is found that large inevitably destabilizing but mild may have pronounced stabilizing effect. Seasonality also allows for coexistence alternative stable states (equilibria, cycles, chaos). These solutions be seasonally in-phase, out-of-phase, or asynchronous. In-phase correspond to winter regulation density, whereas out-of-phase summer regulation. Analysis suggests possible only in mildly seasonal habitats.
