摘要: Abstract Background . Off-pump coronary artery bypass (OPCAB) operations are evolving rapidly and becoming established in many cardiothoracic centers. For the technique to be widely applicable, teaching methods must developed for surgical trainees. Early midterm clinical outcomes of OPCAB performed at our institution by trainees as first operators under supervision were compared those obtained patients operated on consultants. Methods Analysis was undertaken data prospectively inserted Patient & Tracking System. Of 559 between January 1997 May 2000, 124 (22%) carried out a supervised trainee 435 (78%) consultant. Results There no difference age, sex, angina class, New York Heart Association functional or operative priority extent disease two groups. More consultants had history congestive heart failure requiring medical therapy, significantly lower ejection fraction, higher Parsonnet score with results, terms morbidity mortality, similar Conclusions Our show differences early outcome undergoing either supervision. The improvements exposure stabilization techniques, well use intracoronary shunts, have made it possible safe teach off-pump multivessel revascularization.
