摘要: Abstract In late 2020, governments will set the next decade of conservation targets under UN Convention on Biological Diversity. Setting new requires understanding how well national protected area (PA) networks are spatially representing important areas for biodiversity and ecosystem services. We analyzed representation priority (BPAs), forests, forest carbon stocks, non-timber products (NTFPs), freshwater services (FES) within terrestrial PA systems in Cambodia, Guyana, Liberia, Madagascar, Suriname 2003 2017. Four countries (all except Suriname) expanded their during study period. all five countries, we found that PAs represented BPAs, stocks relatively well, based size. did not represent NTFPs FES particularly Cambodia where were represented. Countries period also increased ES; Madagascar these increases substantial. Representation could be improved across however, indicating additional efforts needed to safeguard benefits people countries.
