摘要: The Lower Aptian clays of the Drija formation (Jebel Bargou-Siliana, Tunisia) have been studied for their use in ceramic industry. physico-chemical characterization and advanced technological tests were carried out on two samples, Bargou 1 2 using many analytical methods. samples indicate that these can be considered as a non-refractory material. X-ray diffraction mineralogical analysis whole rock clay fractions reveals presence phyllitic minerals (illite, kaolinite, interstratified illite/smectite). Associated are mainly represented by dolomite, calcite, quartz feldspar, occasionally gypsum. chemical major elements moderate level Al2O3 (10–18%) SiO2 (36–64%) with SiO2:Al2O3 ratio reach 3 low CaO content. plasticity index cut from formation, shows they plastic (l2% < IP 15%). drying curves various show materials quick behavior since relatively shrinkage. tested briquettes, fired at different temperatures 950, 1050, 1100 °C, remain flat without deformations or defects; red brick color. These briquettes high mechanical resistance to flexion good sound. results obtained region directly used manufacture tiles.
