摘要: Abelmoschus moschatus Medik. (family: Malvaceae) has a long history of being used as folk medicine in Sri Lanka. Despite the therapeutic use this plant traditional medicine, leaves A. have not been subjected to scientific evaluation toxicity/adverse effects vivo. Thus, present study was aimed assess acute and 28-day repeated-dose oral toxic hexane (55 mg/kg), ethyl acetate (75 mg/kg), butanol (60 mg/kg), aqueous (140 mg/kg) leaf extracts Wistar rats. Furthermore, identification phytochemical constituents determination vitro total antioxidant activity selected were carried out. Repeated-dose administration produced no significant changes hematological profile biochemical parameters compared untreated healthy rats ( ). The resulted some ), whereas changed No relative organ weight treated observed ) except kidneys with extract Normal morphology signs hemorrhages, necrosis, or inflammatory cell infiltrations vital organs during assessment histopathology on H E-stained tissue sections upon treatment extracts. Alkaloids absent excluding health risk for harmful alkaloids. highest reported extract. In conclusion, completely nontoxic, showed statistically
