摘要: The king of rivers or mahseer comprises three genera: Tor, Neolissochilus, and Naziritor, under the Cyprinidae family. Tor genus has been classified as true due to presence a median lobe among genera. species are widely distributed across Southeast (SE) Asia, 13 have reported previously: ater, dongnaiensis, douronensis, laterivittatus, mosal, mekongensis, putitora, sinensis, soro, tambra, tambroides, tor yingjiangensis. However, exact number valid remains debatable. Different unstandardized approaches applying genetic markers in taxonomic identification morphology variation within same further widened gap ameliorated instability taxonomy. Therefore, synchronized strategized research researchers is urgently required improve fill knowledge gap. This review current update SE Asia’s species, outlining their distribution, morphology, identification. In addition, present proposes that there ten Asian region. list will serve template standard taxonomy which could basis open new directions research.
