摘要: Under the Animal Medicinal Drug Use Clarification Act of 1994, veterinarians are legally allowed to use drugs in food-producing animals an extralabel manner. This could potentially lead violative residues food animal origin. It is therefore essential that appropriately extended withdrawal interval be established. Ideally, these intervals should calculated on basis tissue half-life drug target animal. However, data not readily available for all animals. For this reason, a multiplier has been proposed as simple alternative method estimate effective drug. Extended intervals, estimated using various multipliers, were compared with actual half-lives. group investigated, 5 resulted estimates inadequate prevent had relatively long half-lives, high tolerances, or both. possibly because fewer half-lives required reach concentrations following administration at label doses. smaller (in case 3) suggested ensure adequate residues.
