摘要: The risk of hepatitis virus transmission from tranfusions has declined dramatically that the 1940s when posttransfusion (PTH) was first appreciated. Introduction B surface antigen screening and conversion to volunteer donors for whole-blood donations in late 1960s early 1970s led substantial reduction PTH cases. However, up 10% recipients continued develop PTH, most cases which were attributed an unknown non-A, non-B viral agent. Implementation surrogate marker testing (i.e., alanine aminotransferase anti-hepatitis core antigen) residual 1980s reduced per unit 1 200 about 400. Hepatitis C discovered 1989 quickly established as causative agent > 90% PTH. progressively improved antibody assays 1990s due 100000. Although additional viruses exist (e.g., G virus), these appear be minor contributors clinical been virtually eradicated.
