摘要: BACKGROUND The chestnut inner shell (CIS) has long been used as a medicinal herb for strengthening the antioxidant in cosmetic industry. However, little is known about and anticancer effects of CIS. RESULTS The CIS extracts (CISEs) were investigated by use various methods cancer cell lines, respectively. The total polyphenol content CISEs using ethanol, methanol, butanol, ethyl acetate water 53.30, 43.98, 32.16, 26.79 11.53 mg gallic acid equivalents g−1, ethanol methanol exhibited high activities 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl radical scavenging activity, β-carotene bleaching ferric reducing ability plasma assays; equivalent to those butylated hydroxytoluene. All at 2.5 mL−1 shown have cytotoxic effect over 50%, CISE 0.6 was proved 90% against tested cells. CONCLUSION The had potent effects, highest cytotoxicity. These results suggest that could be functional ingredients foods extraction solvents. © 2015 Society Chemical Industry
