摘要: Aims: To investigate the effects of local intramuscular injection N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor antagonist ketamine on chronic myofascial pain and mandibular function in temporomandibular disorder patients. Methods: Fourteen patients (10 women 4 men) were recruited. The subjects completed 2 sessions a double-blinded randomized placebo-controlled trial. They received single 0.2 mL or placebo (buffered isotonic saline [NaCl], 155 mmol/L) into most painful part masseter muscle. primary outcome parameters spontaneous assessed an electronic visual analog scale numeric rating scale. In addition, unpleasantness, relief, pressure threshold, tolerance, completion McGill Pain Questionnaire drawing areas, maximum voluntary bite force jaw opening obtained. Paired t tests analysis variance performed to compare data. Results: There no main treatment except for significant effect time (analysis variance; P = .030) treatment, time, interactions between < .047). Conclusion: These results suggest that peripheral NMDA receptors do not play major role pathophysiology pain. Although there was minor opening, administration may be promising these patients.
