摘要: OBJECTIVES: Periodontal disease is an infectious disorder caused by a small subset of periodontal pathogens including Porphyromonas gingivalis. Accumulated evidences show that the expression P. gingivalis heterogenic virulence properties dependent on its clonal diversity. expresses two distinct fimbria molecules, major and minor fimbriae, cell surfaces, both which seem to be involved in development periodontitis. In this short review, variations fimbriae relation microbial pathogenesis are discussed. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Our recent findings summarized elucidate relationship between variation bacterial pathogenicity various strains. RESULTS: Major were classified into six types (I V Ib) based diversity fimA genes encoding FimA (a subunit fimbriae). A majority periodontitis patients found carry type II organisms, followed IV, organisms significantly occurred with more severe forms Studies clones have revealed greater adhesive invasive capabilities epithelial cells than other clones. Minor induced interleukin-1alpha (IL-1alpha), IL-1beta, IL-6, tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) cytokine macrophages suggested causative factor alveolar bone resorption animal models. The unclear, however, molecules different CONCLUSION: may influence disease.
