This multinational, Internet-based survey was designed to assess the prevalence, frequency, severity, and impact of opioid-induced bowel dysfunction (OBD) in patients receiving opioid therapy for chronic pain taking laxatives. Design. In total, 322 daily oral opioids laxatives completed 45-item questionnaire. At time survey, 45% reported <3 movements per week. The most prevalent side effects were constipation (81%) straining pass a movement (58%).
