摘要: With the depletion of fossil fuel resources and limited availability petroleum-derived transport fuel, along with contribution to global warming, environmental benefits renewable biofuel are seen as best alternative source in recent years. Among third-generation biodiesel feed stocks such food crops (sugarcane, sugar beet, maize rapeseed) non-food (Jatropha sp., Cassava lignocellulosic materials), microalgae has been hailed biodiesel. Microalgae only that can be sustainably developed near future, produce ten times more oil than oleaginous plants. Biodiesel from received much attention world-wide years due its carbon-neutral status. The higher neutral lipid contents also surpass terrestrial plants for production, largest biomass producers. They accumulate high concentrations triacylglycerol a storage under photooxidative stress other unfavorable conditions within short period time. This chapter provides an overview production includes algae cultivation, harvesting, downstream processing, list companies aiming develop microalgae.
