摘要: Abstract The acute toxicity of PCBs to adult birds increases with increasing chlorination the PCB mixture, and brain residues greater than 300 mg/kg are associated mortality. Sublethal effects in adults include reduced parental attentiveness abnormal reproductive behavior. cause a suite developmental effects, including endocrine disruption, immunotoxicity teratogenesis, rather specific etiology such as egg shell thinning. Possible polychlorinated dibenzofuran (PCDF) contamination mixtures may have been responsible for some reported toxic attributed PCBs, edema. concentrations causing embryo mortality range from 3.1 μg/kg 3,3′,4,4′,5-pentachlorobiphenyl chicken eggs 30 total double crested cormorant eggs. Dietary no adverse effect 0.5 ppm American kestrel 50 Japanese quail. Genetic differences related expression aryl hydrocarbon (Ah) receptor, toxicokinetics, be dominant factor determining birds. assessment potential injury bird populations is confounded by presence multiple contaminants field-collected biota environmental media.
