Iron(III) oxyhydroxide and oxide monoliths with controlled multiscale porosity: synthesis and their adsorption performance

摘要: Iron(III) oxyhydroxide and oxide monoliths with controlled multiscale porosity have been successfully fabricated via the sol–gel process accompanied by phase separation. The size of macropores was synthesis parameters such as starting compositions. as-dried iron(III) were amorphous possessed surface areas over 340 m2 g−1, which mesostructures could be further a heat-treatment at 250–350 °C without collapse macrostructures monolithic forms. When gel heated 300 °C, resultant transformed to crystalline α-Fe2O3 exhibited specific area 124 g−1. Heat-treatment 350 resulted in broadened distribution mesopores. adsorption behavior Congo red has revealed that interconnected macroporous structure contributed faster diffusion better accessibility continuous flow-through set up, crack-free forms accounted for an advantageous use adsorbents.
