摘要: It is usually assumed in geodetic studies that measurement errors are independent from one to the next and rate of deformation (velocity) constant over duration experiment. Any temporal correlation between measurements can substantially affect uncertainty this velocity estimate when it determined time series measurements. One source possible long-term motion monument with respect “deep” crust. Available suggest introduces have form a random walk process. We show how such estimates. For experiment set we calculate as function number observations relative amount correlated uncorrelated noise. find 1) neglecting correlations makes estimated velocities much too small, 2) noise sources similar magnitude, expected improvement having more not realized; there almost no some cases. also examined effect outliers (“blunders”) on uncertainty; for frequency typical field campaigns, previous two conclusions remain unchanged. These results large estimating rates; unless these frequent give little advantage. If planned, due instability must be kept small if full capabilities technique realized.
