摘要: Abstract This experimental work aims at investigating the potential development of self-heating when torrefied wood chips enter into contact with oxygen. Two kilograms dried beech have been under nitrogen in a cylindrical reactor 250 °C or 285 °C. The temperature was then leveled down between 100 °C and 160 °C flow replaced by oxygen-containing flow. Influences oxygen volumetric fraction sweeping gas rate were investigated. Temperatures different bed locations gaseous product fractions output monitored continuously. In some experiments limited rise observed while others runaway occurred. Thermal considerations indicate clear enhancement propensity severity torrefaction. Gas phase analysis molecule balance reveal an adsorption mechanism pathway higher for severely wood. Lowering increasing decrease behavior used to stop self-ignition bed.
