A Ru/MoO2 catalyst was found to be active for the synthesis gas conversion straight chain primary alcohols. Potassium carbonate effective enhancing high alcohol formation. The carbon number distribution of alcoholic products followed Anderson-Schulz-Flory which gave growth probabilities 0.27–0.35. In addition, catalysts are significantly more sulfur resistant than a Ru/Al2O3 catalyst. higher resistance these is mainly due their adsorption capacities.
