Microstructure, mechanical and corrosion properties of Mg–2Dy–xZn (x = 0, 0.1, 0.5 and 1 at.%) alloys

摘要: Abstract Microstructure, mechanical and corrosion properties of as-cast Mg–2Dy-xZn (x = 0, 0.1, 0.5, 1) (at.%) alloys were investigated. The microstructures the Mg–2Dy Mg–2Dy–0.1Zn mainly consisted α-Mg phase Mg24Dy5 eutectic phase. With 0.5 at.% Zn addition, Mg12ZnDy with 18R-type long period stacking ordered (LPSO) structure Mg2Dy precipitated at grain boundaries. When content is 1 at.%, only Mg3Zn3Dy2 formed in matrix. electrochemical measurements immersion testing results indicated that alloy exhibited best resistance. It revealed morphology, scale, amount distribution second have a great effect on resistance alloy. Additionally, tensile showed Mg–2Dy–0.5Zn higher strength good elongation, especially 200 °C. improvement was due to strengthening LPSO refinement α-Mg.
