摘要: One question that has been central to the study of Apc gene is why ismutated so frequently in colorectal cancer but relatively infrequently other tumour types. This chapter reviews recent data obtained mice after conditional deletion both copies from adult epithelial tissues with particular focus on intestinal epithelium. These suggest a major reason for frequent mutation lies distinct character epithelium where loss leads progenitor-like phenotype. Thus enterocytes lacking escape two selective constraints usually prevent cells becoming cancerous intestine: they fail differentiate and migrate are not sloughed off into lumen.
