摘要: OBJECTIVE —Metabolic syndrome is diagnosed according to several criteria. Of these, some require glucose intolerance and others obesity for the diagnosis. We investigated relationship between metabolic risk factor clustering cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortality stratified by high blood or obesity. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS —We followed 7,219 Japanese men women without a history of CVD 9.6 years. defined pressure, glucose, triglycerides, low HDL cholesterol, as factors. The multivariate adjusted hazard ratio (HR) number factors was calculated using Cox proportional hazards model. RESULTS —During follow-up, 173 participants died CVD. numbers were positively correlated ( P trend = 0.07). HR obviously higher among with than those ≥2 other (HR 3.67 [95% CI 1.49–9.03]). However, increase only modest in even if they had (1.99 [0.93–4.28]). Conversely, related irrespective CONCLUSIONS —Our findings suggest that tolerance plays an important role mortality. Because prevalence nonobese quite their high, excluding them from diagnosis because absence might overlook risk.
