摘要: Connections between periodontitis (PD) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA) are suggested by an increased prevalence of PD in RA, shared environmental genetic risk factors, correlating levels severity when the two diseases occur together. Here, we compare contrast results from numerous studies documenting this association, highlight involvement citrullination development autoimmunity leading to destructive pathology that characterizes RA. The contribution RA may at least three distinct phases: (i) initial breakdown tolerance autoimmunity; (ii) maturation citrulline specificity autoantibody response; (iii) pro-inflammatory effect citrullinated proteins themselves established disease. We conclude is more than a ‘missing link’; rather, it active process evolution low found into pathogenic anti-citrullinated protein response specific
