摘要: We propose a new method for characterizing optical phase modulators based on modulation-to-intensity modulation (PM-to-IM) conversion in dispersive fibers. The fiber dispersion spectrally alters the relative phasing of phase-modulated signal and leads to PM-to-IM conversion, which is extended measure efficiency modulators. In demonstration, frequency-dependent index half-wave voltage are experimentally measured commercial modulator. Compared with conventional methods, proposed works without restriction small-signal operations, allows swept-frequency measurement high resolution accuracy by using vector network analyzer.
