摘要: Interspecies hybrids provide unique opportunities for fundamental genetic analyses and improvement of farmed deer. We have bred F1 by artificial insemination red deer hinds (Cervus elaphus) with semen from Pere David's (Elaphurus davidianus). The male female David x were fertile in matings produced over 300 viable backcross hybrids. DNA was collected the progeny as an international reference panel gene linkage mapping to investigate associations between segregating species-specific markers phenotypic traits. measured a range traits Several appear suitable analysis using mapped markers, including gestation length, growth rate, live weight, head morphometrics, tail length. Typically these show large difference high variance so that many individuals phenotype outside observed
