Magnolia (Magnoliaceae) in Mexico and Central America: a synopsis

摘要: As a result of recent alpha-taxonomic study the genusMagnolia s. str. in Mexico and Central America, four new species subspecies ofMagnolia sect.Theorhodon are proposed, includingM. iltisiana, M. panamensis, tamaulipana, sororum subsp.lutea, andM. pacifica, consisting three subspecies:pacifica, pugana, andtarahumara. Additionally, combination,M. guatemalensis subsp.hondurensis, is made, section,M. sect.Splendentes, erected for Caribbean species. The results have implications understandingMagnolia biogeography, tamaulipana has potential horticulture temperate zones. Keys to genera, sections, species, maps distributions presented.Magnolia grandiflora L. schiedeana Schltdl. lectotypified.
