摘要: 2-Methylisoborneol (MIB) is a musty- or muddy-smelling compound which occurs in some natural waters and difficult to remove by conventional water treatment methods. Bacterial degradation of MIB was examined batch culture experiments. Cultures able metabolize were enriched mineral salts medium supplemented with milligram-per-liter levels the inoculated sediment samples from reservoirs where seasonally produced. Bacteria degrading cultures isolated on R2A agar identified as predominantly Pseudomonas spp. Degradation occurred only consisting three more different bacteria. supported growth sole added carbon source at 1 6.7 mg/liter. also degraded microgram-per-liter sterile filtered lake washed bacteria synthetic various sugars acetate. Complete took 5 days than 2 weeks. Enrichment isoborneol, structural analog MIB, failed preenrichment for degraders. Isoborneol 20 40 mg/liter readily bacterial growth, whereas 12 months degrade. The relative recalcitrance compared isoborneol may be result additional methyl group MIB.
