Flexoelectric effect of a rod-like nematic liquid crystal doped with highly-kinked bent-core molecules for energy converting components

摘要: The flexoelectric effect of a rod-like nematic liquid crystal (pentyl-cyanobiphenyl, 5CB) doped with bent-core crystals high kink angle ∼130° was studied. Although the previous theoretical models predicted that such highly-kinked molecules longitudinal dipole moment would have no significant influence on effect, 5CB mixture 7.0 wt% showed greater anisotropy 37.2 pC m−1 compared to pure 10.3 m−1. From small X-ray scattering experiments, found form local domains surrounded and varied orientation shape assembled complexes were considered be related anisotropy.
