Gender stereotypes in psychosocial care for female crack and powder cocaine users

摘要: The study analyzed health professionals' conceptions toward female users of crack and powder cocaine currently receiving psychosocial care, based on a gender perspective. Seventeen professionals were interviewed, systematic observations made the spaces for collective care in Center Psychosocial Care specializing alcohol drug addiction Greater Metropolitan Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Analysis interviews field diaries using hermeneutic-dialectic method revealed three categories: frailty as constitutive attribute women's condition, emotional to use, stereotypes during care. voiced traditional view heterosexual, docile, maternal woman reproduced stereotypical concepts when addressing sensitive, frail individuals, emotionally dependent men more involved home family. These need refined understanding issues mental health-disease process order allow overcoming preconceived notions reductionist practices.
