摘要: One of the events that have characterized human cost Gaza Conflict 2008–2009 is mortar shelling a United Nations (UN) run School, sheltering more than 1300 Palestinian civilians seeking refuge from fighting. This paper offers multi-modal approach to Critical Discourse Analysis by examining how English and Arabic language services British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) Al-Jazeera approached event. It details visual textual depiction proportionality casualties, humanitarian situation, extent which actions protagonists are presented as justified, rationalized, or legitimized. The finds all channels recognized deaths regrettable tragic, but differed in their judgements about whether attacks were deliberately targeting civilians, collateral consequences conducting intensive military action highly populated urban environments.
