摘要: Objectives: Mammographic breast density (MBD) is a strong risk factor for cancer. It has been hypothesized that cancer susceptibility loci may also be associated with density. Recently, two genome-wide association studies identified single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP), rs2981582, in intron 2 of the FGFR2 gene to increased risk. Further research revealed contains estrogen receptor transcription binding sites. We examined associations four SNPs (rs2981582, rs3750817, rs17542768 and rs1219643), hormone therapy (HT) use, their interactions MBD. Methods: conducted cross-sectional analysis using subset Mammograms Masses Study population. Subjects were 370 healthy postmenopausal Caucasian women. General linear models adjusted covariates used evaluate associations. Results: Overall, no statistically significant observed between Duration plus progestin but not duration HT status significantly MBD our study No genotypes use observed. Conclusions: Our results suggest effects evaluated polymorphisms on are mediated through MBD, do modify effect Implications public health: Breast most common women U.S. Identification genes influence provide insight into biology its cancer, eventually leading more effective prevention treatment.
