摘要: The need to detect low intensity beams of resolved ions with keV energy is encountered frequently in mass spectrometry. It most readily accomplished by using some form pulse-counting detector which are allowed strike a target surface (conversion dynode) where each ion releases pulse secondary electrons. electrons undergo further amplification an electron multiplier or scintillator type specially designed single ions. Ion-to-electron conversion, the electrons, efficiency detection counting and dead-time corrections observed random rates all statistical processes must be understood so that data can corrected properly obtain precise accurate measurements. These reviewed, along basic properties ion-induced emission from amorphous A12O3 thin film target. Ion microprobe interpreted light these considerations, several spectra given for dynode surfaces.
