摘要: One of the key features next generation wireless communication systems will be use frequencies in range 10-100GHz (aka mmWave band) densely populated indoor and outdoor scenarios. Due to reduced wavelength, antenna arrays with a large number antennas can packed very small volumes, making thus it possible consider, at least principle, links wherein not only base-station, but also user device, are equipped arrays. We denote this configuration as "doubly-massive" MIMO link. This paper introduces concept doubly massive mmWave, showing that fundamentals regime completely different from what happens conventional sub-6 GHz cellular frequencies. It is shown for instance multiplexing capabilities channel its rank no longer ruled by transmit receive antennas, rather scattering clusters surrounding environment. The implications on transceiver processing, system energy efficiency throughput discussed.
