Germination characteristics of several grass species as affected by limiting water potentials imposed through a cracking black clay soil

摘要: The effects of limiting water potentials on the germination characteristics 12 grasses were studied. Germination proper was prevented in all species at well short wilting point and different had their potentials. Generally native required wetter conditions to germinate than exotic grasses, although there some exceptions. A partial condition, caused by limited availability, occurred differing degrees amongst species. Some retained viability when desiccated partially germinated but other lost viability. phenomenon appears important ecology not others.
