摘要: 1. The current approaches to setting objectives for river restoration at a catchment and national scale in the UK are described. 2. A framework Physical Quality Objectives (PQOs) using River Habitat Survey (RHS) data is proposed United Kingdom systems. Indices of habitat modification quality used classify existing conditions suggest improvement. 3. Strategies applying this PQO presented, including: (a) simple ‘rules’ such as global maintenance ‘good’ improvement lower classifications; (b) applications individual reach-based projects, an iterative approach throughout catchments; (c) applications reaches within context, identifying opportunities constraints improvements terms different ‘management areas’; and (d) ecological strategies, functional division areas based upon significance habitats key species. 4. The rationale developing PQOs discussed, including merits indices on scoring The strategies also discussed with reference management needs future needs, (including those associated European Water Framework Directive).
